Project Overview

In the early days of the pandemic before our understanding that Covid-19 was spread through the air we breathe, it was thought that Covid was spread on surfaces. The Covid-19 Decontamination Routine for Essential Workers infographic was created for workers at high risk for exposure to COVID-19, and was a collaboration between Graphic Arts at Johns Hopkins Department of Art as Applied to Medicine and The Johns Hopkins Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design.

I was the art director on this project and collaborated with graphic designer and illustrator Kim Lawler on the visual style and design of the infographic and custom icon set. The infographic illustrates how to easily follow the decontamination routine using the acronym “SCRUBS” and was given to essential workers at Johns Hopkins.

Problem

How do we communicate a decontamination routine to Johns Hopkins essential workers at high risk of Covid-19, and keep them safe when they get home?

Solution

An infographic that illustrates how to easily follow the decontamination routine using the acronym "SCRUBS." Each step of the routine is clearly explained visually with simple instructions and custom icons, allowing essential workers to easily follow along as they perform the routine.
